Benjals Creative LLC makes SquirrelAway. This policy explains what the app does with your information. It is short because the app does very little with it.

The short version

What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter into SquirrelAway is stored on your device. That includes your leave balances, accrual rules, pay schedule, holidays, time off you have planned or taken, paystub figures you enter, and any names or notes you add.

None of it is sent to Benjals Creative LLC.

iCloud sync

If you turn on sync, SquirrelAway stores a copy of your app data in your own private iCloud account so it appears on your other Apple devices.

Three things are worth being clear about.

Sync is off until you turn it on. The app works fully without it.

The data goes to your iCloud, not to us. It is stored in the private database of your personal iCloud account. Benjals Creative LLC has no access to it and no ability to read it. Apple's handling of data in your iCloud account is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Turning sync off stops future syncing from this device. To remove data already in iCloud, use the in-app option to remove synced data, or delete the app's data from your iCloud storage in your device settings. If you use SquirrelAway on more than one device, turn sync off on your other devices too, or they will upload a fresh copy.

Anonymous usage information

To understand which parts of the app people actually use, and where the setup process loses them, SquirrelAway sends anonymous usage events. An event records something like "the person reached step three of setup" or "the forecast screen was opened."

These events contain nothing you enter. No balances, no hours, no dates, no leave type names, no employer names, no trip names, no notes. Nothing typed into the app is ever sent.

They contain no identifiers. No account, no email, no name, no advertising identifier, no device identifier. The events cannot be linked back to you, and we cannot tell one person's events from another's.

We do not track you across other apps or websites, and SquirrelAway does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework because there is nothing here to track.

This uses Aptabase, a privacy-focused analytics service. Aptabase collects no personal data and no device identifiers on our behalf, and provides protection of user data equal to what is described in this policy. Their own privacy practices are published at aptabase.com.

Purchases

SquirrelAway offers a one time purchase that unlocks additional features. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see or receive your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether the purchase has been made.

What we do not do

We do not use crash reporting services or any other third-party service beyond the one named above. We do not show advertisements. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers. We do not require an account, an email address, or a name. We do not share, sell, or transfer your information to anyone, because we do not have it.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device. If you used sync, remove the app's iCloud data separately through your device's iCloud storage settings.

Children

SquirrelAway is a tool for tracking employment leave benefits and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If the app's handling of information changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change. Material changes will also be described in the app's release notes.
